Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
